Your Voice -- Readers' Comments

Vincenzo Gullà, market director of Aethra, wrote to say: "I regularly read your news letter with great interest and I see that you often talk about Telemedicine. I share your view and believe that broadband will play a really important role in this field. ... Many years ago Aethra started to "play around" with telemedicine solutions, mainly based on video conference equipment, gaining a discrete interest from professional medical organizations. As the time has become more mature we decided to "play around" with home care solutions, based on low cost video telephony and electro medical equipment, all working over ADSL (H323 or SIP based). If you had the opportunity to be at the Supercomm 04 you might have seen our demo at the DSL HOME road show. In that occasion we implemented an ADSL link between a patient in Ancona, Italy and the doctor in Chicago, and see in real time vital parameters such as blood pressure, temperature, OS2 etc while talking and watching the patient with the video phone. We will make the same demo at the BBF04 next September in Venice." ( www.aethra.com )
